Bridget’s back (in book form)

Helen Fielding is publishing a new Bridget Jones book, based on the upcoming film Bridget Jones’s Baby.

Bridget Jones’s Baby: The Diaries will be released on October 11 and is based on Fielding’s columns for the Independent.

It will follow Bridget’s “somewhat bumpy journey into motherhood”, with a pregnancy “full of cheesy potatoes, outlandish advice from Drunken Singletons and Smug Mothers, chaos at scans and childbirth classes, high jinks and romance, joy and despair”, all of which overshadowed by the “terribly awkward” question of ‘who is the father?’

The film version of Bridget Jones’s Baby is released in the UK on September 16.

Fielding said: “At heart Bridget Jones is about the gap between how we all feel we’re expected to be and how we actually are and – as Bridget discovers with her somewhat bumpy pregnancy – how we expect life to turn out and how it actually does.”
