Stockard Channing is to tread the boards in London.
The actress, best known for her roles in Grease and The West Wing, will lead the cast of a new production of Apologia.
Channing will play the role of Kristin Miller, the matriarch of a family who is presiding over birthday celebrations. It examines her relationship with sons Peter and Simon. It will be directed by Jamie Lloyd.
The play, which originally opened in 2008 at the Bush Theatre, will run at the Trafalgar Studios from July 29 to November 18.
Channing said: “I’m excited to be returning to the West End – my first time both working with Jamie Lloyd and performing at the Trafalgar Studios. I was so drawn to this unforgettably bold and uncompromising character in such a rich, moving and witty play. I can’t wait for us to bring Apologia to life for the audiences.”
