When Robert Downey Jr treads the boards on Broadway later this year, he’ll be doing so with a familiar face.

The Oscar-winner is set to lead the cast of McNeal, which will also feature Andrea Martin and Malora Hardin.

Producers have now revealed the cast will also include “a highly realistic Metahuman Digital Likeness” of Downey. The play sees Downey portray a talented writer who grapples with a new novel, a broken family life and “an unhealthy fascination with artificial intelligence.”

The technology has been developed by AGBO, Anthony and Joe Russo’s independent studio and Downey.

McNeal will be on stage at the Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater from 5th September.
