Steven Moffat says he’d be up for a Sherlock/Doctor Who crossover.
The executive producer on both BBC dramas told Entertainment Weekly “I’d do it, ‘cause it’d be funny. It’d just be a laugh”
Unfortunately fans might not get to see the long-talked about idea as Moffat admitted “I work with boring people on both shows. The rest of them, frankly, the grownups [say] ‘No, you can have too much sugar.’”
Moffat also revealed the upcoming Victorian-set special went through a few different incarnations before the final era was set. Moffat says he and co-creator Mark Gatiss considered a dream sequence or a Victorian-set house party before eventually deciding “to hell with that”.
“We never bother to explain why Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are in the modern world in the normal series; why should we bother explaining now that we’re back in Victorian times?”
I’m glad they didn’t go for the dream sequence!
