At LFF today (day one)

The 59th BFI London Film Festival finally begins in Leicester Square this evening with the UK premiere of Suffragette.

Most of the film’s cast will walk the red carpet including Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne-Marie Duff, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson, Romola Garai and Samuel West.

The cast will be joined at the screening by the film’s director Sarah Gavron as well as screenwriter Abi Morgan.

LFF have also invited Helen and Laura Pankhurst, the great-granddaughters of Emmeline, which I think is a nice touch.

There’s going to be loads happening over the next 10 days and I’ll be trying to get to as many screenings and press conferences as possible. If you want to keep up with my exploits you can follow me on Twitter: @jennypriestley

I’ll also be posting updates of who’s expected each day – so keep an eye out for the likes of Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender and even Noel Gallagher!
