Astronaut Chris Hadfield has written a children’s book which will be published in the UK next year.

The Darkest Dark is about a boy who confronts his fear of the dark and was inspired by Hadfield’s childhood passion for space.

Speaking about his creation, Hadfield said “After 25 years of speaking in schools and working with children, I am extremely proud to be able to create this book.

The Darkest Dark addresses one of our most basic and common fears, brought visually to life with fine, distinctive style by The Fan Brothers. Pursuing the hopes and overcoming the worries of childhood are such key parts of growing up, and help determine how high we eventually may travel.”

The Darkest Dark will be published on September 22.
