The actors who will portray the older versions of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Grainger in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child have been revealed.

Paul Thornley will play Ron, Noma Dumezweni will be Hermione and Jamie Parker has been cast as Harry.

All three are veteran West End actors, Dumezweni is an Olivier Award-winner while Parker rose to fame in Alan Bennett’s The History Boys (I thought he was one of the best actors in it).

Obviously there’s lots more casting to be announced – but this initial announcement gives me hope that producers are really looking to bring quality to the play and aren’t just hoping to make a fast buck.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opens in London in the summer.
