Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander star in the first trailer for the big screen adaptation of The Light Between Oceans.

The story is set in the years following World War I and follows a lighthouse keeper and his wife who discover a boat washed ashore carrying a dead man and a two-month-old baby.

They rescue the child and decide to raise her as their own – but their decision proves to have devastating consequences.

The film is directed by Derek Cianfrance and also stars Rachel Weisz.

From the look of the trailer, it’s going to be a real heartbreaker.
