The first images from the new TV adaptation of Preacher have been released.

Dominic Cooper stars as the title character in the series which is produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and will be broadcast in the US on AMC.

Preacher is based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s cult 1990s comic and follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer (Cooper), who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop a highly unusual power.

Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vagabond named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) come together and when they do, they are thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

The show debuts in the States in May.
