Hugh Jackman, Naomi Watts and Margot Robbie will lend their voices to a new animated film directed by Tim Minchin.

Rose Byrne, Ben Mendelsohn (who seems to be in everything at the moment) and Jacki Weaver will also be lending their voices to the animated comedy.

Minchin and Chris Miller are directing what’s described as an animal rock ‘n’ roll musical. Minchin is also writing the songs for the film.

The story follows a desert-dwelling marsupial known as a bilby who has lived under a rock his entire life before he is kicked out by his parents and told to get a life. He does so by going on a road trip with a band in the Australian Outback.

Larrikins is due to be released in 2018.
