Channel 4 to celebrate Pooh Bear’s 90th anniversary

Channel 4 has announced a one-off special celebrating the 90th anniversary of Winnie the Pooh.

The programme will delve into the history of the character and marks 90 years since the publication of AA Milne’s first book following Pooh’s adventures.

It will be fronted by Alan Tichmarsh who will set out in search of the history and locations that inspired Milne’s poems and stories and E H Shepard’s memorable illustrations.

Through interviews with Ann Thwaite, Milne’s award winning biographer, children’s author Brian Sibley, social historian Hester Barron and journalist Matthew Sweet, Alan investigates and celebrates Winnie-the-Pooh in his 90th year and the legacy he left behind.

Winnie-the-Pooh: the Most Famous Bear in the World will be broadcast on New Year’s Eve on Channel 4.
