You’ve seen the show, watched the film, heard about the sequel – and now Mamma Mia fans can look forward to a new immersive experience.
Björn Ulvaeus and producer Ingrid Sutej have begun the process of applying for planning permission for a new temporary space in London for spin-off Mamma Mia! The Party.
Mamma Mia! The Party first opened in Stockholm. It features a new story and new characters, and contains some songs from the original musical as well as other ABBA songs.
The plan is for the site, on Stamford Street in London’s Waterloo, to recreate a typical Greek taverna complete with a courtyard, olive trees, a fountain and bougainvillea. Producers also plan is to serve the audience traditional Mediterranean food during the performance.
Ulvaeus said the South Bank was “the perfect place” to host the event, adding: “The building could be used for other activities as well, outside party hours, so we hope it would be an asset for the whole community.”
No further details have been announced yet – but you can sign up for more information at the official Mamma Mia! The Party website.
