Oscar-winner Denzel Washington is in talks to join the forthcoming Gladiator sequel, which will star Paul Mescal.

It would reunite Washington with director Ridley Scott, who he worked with on American Gangster.

Details of Washington’s role haven’t been revealed, but it would be one of the film’s leads.

Mescal is playing Lucius, the son of Lucilla, with the story taking place years after the original.

Barry Keoghan is also in talks to join the film as a character named Emperor Geta.

The film is scheduled to be released in November 2024.
