Samantha Barks will lead the cast of the Broadway premiere of a new musical based on Pretty Woman.
The production is expected to open on the Great White Way in autumn 2018.
Pretty Woman: The Musical will open 27 years after the film made Julia Roberts. The musical will star Tony winner Stave Kazee (Once) as a single businessman in need of a temporary wife, and Samantha Barks (Eponine in the film of Les Misérables) as the hooker he hires and falls in love with.
The production will have a give-week tryout at Chicago’s Oriental Theatre beginning March 13, 2018.
Pretty Woman: The Musical has original music and lyrics by Grammy Award winner Bryan Adams and his longtime songwriting partner Jim Vallance, book by the late Garry Marshall,director of the film, and the film’s screenwriter J.F. Lawton. Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, On Your Feet!) will direct and choreograph.
