First look: New Fantastic Beasts cover art

The front covers for the new illustrated editions of Newt Scamander’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them have been revealed.

The new UK edition is illustrated by fine artist Olivia Lomenech Gill, and features the Occamy which is “a two-legged winged creature that lays eggs of the purest, softest silver”.

And above is the American version.

The “updated Hogwarts library classic” features an array of magic creatures from the Acromantula to Yeti, using a variety of techniques, including prints and etchings, watercolour and charcoal sketches.

The new editions will include full-colour versions of every beast featured in the textbook, which was originally “written” by Newt Scamander, via Rowling, in 2001.

Proceeds from the sale of this edition will go to Comic Relief and Rowling’s own international charity Lumos, charities which helps vulnerable children and young people across the world.

The books will be available to buy in November 7th.
