Former Frasier star David Hyde Pierce is joining Sarah Lancashire in the pilot for new TV series Julia.

Lancashire will star as iconic US TV cook Julia Child in the show, with Hyde Pierce cast as her husband, Paul. The role was originally going to be played by Tom Holland but he has dropped out of the project due to the coronavirus pandemic and travel restrictions.

The pair are due to shoot a pilot for the HBO Max show which will look at how Child blazed a trail for cooks.

And, among the other actors who will be shooting the pilot is Bebe Neuwirth, who of course played Frasier’s wife Lilith.
