Former Downton Abbey actor joins Lord of the Rings

Charles Edwards, best known for his roles in Downton Abbey and The Crown, is joining the cast of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV series.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, no details about his role in the big budget show have been revealed.

The cast has also added Will Fletcher and newcomers Amelie Child-Villiers and Beau Cassidy.

Production of the million-dollar series has been underway for some time. Earlier confirmed cast members include Morfydd Clark, Robert Aramayo, Joseph Mawle, and Lenny Henry.

We don’t know a great deal about the plot of the series, although Amazon has confirmed it will take place thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

Amazon has reportedly committed to making five seasons of the show.
