Everyone back on the bus: Priscilla 2 ‘is happening’

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert director Stephen Elliot has revealed a sequel to the hit film is happening 30 years after the original’s release.

Speaking to Deadline, Elliot said a sequel “is happening” and stars Hugo Weaving, Terence Stamp, and Guy Pearce are back “on board”.

“We’ll start the new film in Australia, but by God, we’re going on one helluva journey,” he added.

“The original cast is on board, I’ve got a script that everybody likes, we’re still working out deals. … It’s happening.”

The first film follows a transsexual and two drag queens who set off from Sydney in an old-school bus the trio dub Priscilla to perform to disco golden oldies and ABBA hits in southern Australia.

“It’s the 30th anniversary, the bus has been found, Priscilla the Party! is about to roll out globally and it’s time for Priscilla’s final adventure to get made,” said Elliot.
