London’s National Theatre has announced a whole host of film and TV stars who will perform in the venue’s new season.
Paul Mescal will lead a repertory company at the National’s Lyttelton Theatre in 2027, starring in two plays. Tom Murphy’s A Whistle in the Dark follows a married Irishman living in the Midlands who allows his three brothers to lodge with him and his young wife. Mescal will then play Biff in Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman.
Lesley Manville, Aidan Turner and Monica Barbaro will lead the cast of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, which is expected to premiere in spring 2026.
Nicola Coughlan will reunite with her Derry Girls co-star Siobhan McSweeney in The Playboy of the Western World, which will be on stage at the Lyttelton Theatre from 4 December 2025 to 28 February 2026.
Marvel star Letitia Wright will make her National Theatre debut in the British premiere of The Story about an ambitious reporter who defies her editor.
And, a new musical version of the 2014 film Pride, is also part of the National Theatre’. It will have dates in both London and at Cardiff’s Sherman Theatre.’s line-up. No details on when it will be staged.
