The West Wing star heads back to the White House

Bradley Whitford, best known for playing Joshua Lyman in The West Wing, is heading back to Washington to star alongside Bryan Cranston in HBO drama, All The Way.

Whitford has signed on to play Vice President Hubert Humphrey with Cranston starring as Lyndon B Johnson. Cranston has already won a Tony Award for the role having originated it on Broadway (a production I was lucky enough to see).

Melissa Leo and Anthony Mackie have already been cast in the drama which is being executive produced by Steven Spielberg.

It focuses on LBJ from the moment he became president following Kennedy’s assassination through a turbulent first year that included leveraging his power to pass Civil Rights legislation in Congress up to his landslide re-election victory in 1964.

Filming, under the stewardship of director Jay Roach, begins next month.
