Brendan Coyle, best known as Downton Abbey’s Mr Bates, is joining the second series of 12 Monkeys.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Coyle will play Dr Benjamin Kalman, a former Markridge bioengineer racked with guilt over the deadly virus his team gave birth to.

He’ll be found in Budapest and recruited to help stop the Army of the 12 Monkeys.

It’s definitely very different from playing the valet in Downton!

The new series of 12 Monkeys is expected to screen in 2016.
