Jake Gyllenhaal and Benedict Cumberbatch will co-star in a new drama about the feud between George Westinghouse and Thomas Edison.

Current War is set in the late 1880s and will star Gyllenhaal as Westinghouse and Cumberbatch as Edison.

The pair’s rivalry was over the supply of electricity. Edison championed direct current (DC) for electric-power distribution over alternating current (AC), which was backed by several European companies and Westinghouse Electric.

Alfonso Gomez-Rejon is in talks to direct the film which is likely to be made next year.
