Shailene Woodley is joining Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon in their new HBO drama, Big Little Lies.
The limited series, created by David E Kelley, is based on Liane Moriarty’s book of the same name, the drama hails from David E. Kelley (Boston Legal, Ally McBeal) who is writing the limited series. HBO landed the project in May following a bidding war with Netflix.
Starring Reese Witherspoon on three mothers of young children whose seemingly perfect lives unravel to the point of murder. Woodley will take on the role of Jane, a single mother, and one of three leads opposite Witherspoon and Kidman.
Filming is due to begin in January.
December 9 update: Adam Scott has also now joined the cast.
Scott will play Ed Mackenzie, the stable and loving husband to Madeline (Witherspoon) whose approach is to play it safe.
Big Little Lies was one of my favourite books I read this year! I can’t wait for this.
