Once you’ve seen The Force Awakens on the big screen you’ll be able to read the story for yourself – but only if you have an electronic reader.

The novelisation of The Force Awakens will be released electronically in the UK on December 18.

The physical copy (or hardback) will follow on January 1. Publishers Penguin Random House have taken the decision to hold back the physical release after discussions with Disney to avoid “the risk of a copy getting into the wrong hands”.

Other Star Wars related books due out on Friday include The Star Wars Colouring Book, the Dorling Kindersley Force Awakens Visual Dictionary and the Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a coffee table art book.
