They’ve been talking about it for a while, but Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart have now confirmed they will star in a production of Harold Pinter’s No Man’s Land in London.
The duo originally said the play would open last year, but it’s now been confirmed for a run at Wyndhams Theatre in London from September following a short UK tour.
They originally starred in the play on Broadway a couple of years ago – a production I was lucky enough to see. I would definitely recommend getting tickets to the London staging if you can because I thoroughly enjoyed what I saw in New York.
Like many of current West End shows, there will be specially discounted tickets, 100 for each performance selling at £10-20.
No Man’s Land is about a wealthy writer called Hirst who invites a dishevelled poet, Spooner, to his Hampstead mansion. There, they explore the past — but time and memory play tricks on them.
Stewart will play Hirst with McKellen as Spooner.
The new production will kick off at the Lyceum in Sheffield from August 3 and then visit Newcastle, Brighton and Cardiff, before previewing at Wyndham’s from September 8.
