Having already bagged Martin Freeman for upcoming drama, StartUp, Crackle have now signed up another British star of a popular franchise movie in the shape of Rupert Grint.
He’s going to star alongside Dougray Scott and Ed Westwidk on a new drama series based of n Guy Ritchie’s film Snatch.
According to Crackle, the series will carry the spirit of the setting in the film, while creating a new world with new characters. Inspired by a real life heist in London, Snatch, centers on a group of twenty-something, up-and-coming hustlers who stumble upon a truck load of stolen gold bullion and are suddenly thrust into the high-stakes world of organised crime. The boys must quickly learn to navigate the treacherous waters of London’s underworld as rogue cops, gypsy fighters, international mobsters and local villains descend.
Grint will play the dynamic, frustratingly chaotic and utterly posh con man, Charlie Cavendish. Scott plays Vic Hill, who continues the con game from inside prison; Westwick plays night club owner Sonny Castillo.
Filming on the 10-episode first season begins next week in Manchester with the show due to debut in 2017.
This is the third TV series Rupert Gront has been attached to so it’s good to see it’s actually going to begin filming next week.
Unfortuanely Crackle isn’t available in the UK so we’re going to have to hope someone picks it up.
