George RR Martin’s UK publishers insist “nothing has been finalised regarding the publication or the date” if the much-anticipated next Game of Thrones book.
Despite reports Amazon France listing The Winds of Winter as on sale from March 9, both Martin’s UK and US publishers have said this is not the case.
HarperCollins UK said in a statement: “Nothing has been finalised regarding the publication or the date”.
US publisher Random House said: “We support George RR Martin as he works hard to finish The Winds of Winter. Any on-sale dates currently listed online for the novel are incorrect. Once we have a publication date for The Winds of Winter, the world will know.”
The last book in the series, A Dance with Dragons, was published in 2011.
Earlier this year, Martin said that The Winds of Winter was “months away” from completion. It was originally due to be published in March 2016 to coincide with the sixth series of the TV show. In his latest blog post about the book, Martin said he was “still working” on the book and had “no announcement to make on that front”.
Do get on with it George!
