Sherlock star Martin Freeman is working on bringing a biblical Game of Thrones-style TV series.
He is in early development of what could become the first ever drama series adaptation of one of the most iconic works in literature: John Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost.
Freeman is working on the project as a producer – it’s not yet known if he would appear in the series.
VFX company Framestore has already been signed up to work on the show. Framestore has previously worked on the Harry Potter movies, Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy.
The company has signed up Harry Potter, Gravity and Guardians Of The Galaxy post-house Framestore to produce the VFX.
Speaking to ScreenDaily, Freeman said, “Paradise Lost is epic, exciting and surprisingly modern. And maybe the first time the devil gets all the best tunes!”
The epic poem, written in blank verse by the 17th-century English poet John Milton, concerns the biblical story of the fall of man: the temptation of Adam and Eve by the fallen angel Satan and their expulsion from the Garden of Eden.
