Widows to open London Film Festival

Widows, directed by Steve McQueen and starring Viola Davis, will open this year’s BFI London Film Festival.

The crime thriller’s cast also includes Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Erivo, Colin Farrell, Daniel Kaluuya, Jacki Weaver, Robert Duvall and Liam Neeson.

It tells the story of a group of women who band together to repay the debt left by the dead husbands’ criminal activities.

The 62nd BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express takes place from Wednesday 10 October-Sunday 21 October. The full Festival programme will be announced on Thursday 30 August.
