According to reports, Taiki Waititi is in the early stages of talks about directing a new Star Wars film.
The Hollywood Reporter says the actor/director is discussing developing a new Star Wars movie.
However, we don’t know if that would be for the big screen or for Disney’s streaming service Disney Plus.
Waititi directed the final episode of season one of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, as well as voiced the bounty hunter IG-11 for series.
It’s all rumours and conjecture at the moment, so much so that Waititi himself posted the cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours album on his Twitter feed.
Personally, I think he would be a great choice to lighten up Star Wars a bit. His comic sensibility could be just what the franchise needs. I do find the films to be a bit po-faced at times.
