Comedian Rhod Gilbert has landed his first acting role, starring alongside Mark Gatiss and Rob James Collier in Getting Better.
He plays NHS founder Nye Bevan in the audio drama.
It begins with Prime Minister Clement Attlee unexpectedly appointing left-wing rabble-rouser Bevan to be Minister for Health.
The drama, which has been released as a podcast on Audible, follows Bevan as he makes enemies of the Tories, the British Medical Association and even his own party.
Kathryn Drysdale, who played Meghan Markle in The Windsors, co-stars as doctor Eva Callaway, who faces poverty, sexism and homophobia on the front line.
The cast also includes Annette Badland, Mina Anwar and Neve Mcintosh.
