Oscar-winner Helen Mirren has joined a podcast series set in the world of Sherlock Holmes.

Moriarty: The Silent Order focuses on Professor Moriarty, played by Lord of the Rings actor Dominic Monaghan.

Mirren is lending her voice to the second season of the podcast, which sees Moriarty attempting to track down the woman he loves, who is being held by a mysterious organisation called The Order, whose leader is The Worst Woman in London, played by Mirren.

Speaking about her role, Mirren said: “It was lovely to be part of the rich, beautifully realised world of Moriarty. It’s fun for me to take on a villainous role, and I particularly enjoyed delving into the different dimensions of Lady Milverton. This story was my first podcast drama, and I couldn’t imagine a more exhilarating story as an entry into the format.”

The new series of the podcast will be available on Audible from 9th November.
