In a case of shut up and get on with it, The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin has again teased a possible reboot of the show.
There’s been rumours of a reboot for years. Back in the late 2010s, Sorkin talked about Sterling K Brown playing a new president. Brown did take on the role of Leo in the special one-off episode the cast filmed during the 2020 election campaign.
But, speaking at a special event at the real White House to mark the show’s 25th anniversary, Sorkin told Variety he had come up “with a few ideas” for new episodes while walking around the hallowed halls for real.
“If I had an idea, sure,” Sorkin told Variety. “I didn’t think about it seriously, frankly, until today… We’ll see what happens when I wake up tomorrow. But, if you’re asking me now, this is how I feel.
“I just got a couple of ideas for episodes just walking around the White House,” Sorkin added. “Like, ‘why didn’t we ever do this? Why didn’t we ever do that?’”
Sorkin added that should he ever bring the show back, whoever took on the role of President would “have a hard time living up to Martin [Sheen]”.
Maybe he should consider my idea of bringing back Allison Janney’s CJ Cregg as President. Isn’t it about time we saw a woman in the Oval Office?
