Yes, you read that right – Michael Fassbender is to take on Jeff Bridges’ iconic role from The Big Lebowski.

Don’t worry, there isn’t a remake in the works!

Instead, Fassbender will play The Dude in a live-read of the Coen Brothers’ classic at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival later this month.

It’s being organised by Jason Reitman, the king of live reads, and will also feature Patton Oswalt in the role of Walter Sobchak, originated by John Goodman,

Apparently Fassbender is a urge fan of the film and quotes it every day.

“I have no idea how Fassbender will do it,” Reitman says. “But he’s one of the our greatest performers, he’s on the current Mount Rushmore of actors, so I can’t wait to see what he comes up with.”
