A new film featuring Harry Potter and Harry Potter Jr will be released in 2017.
However, it’s not quite what you think.
The film is called Troll: The Rise of Harry Potter Jr and is, in fact, a sequel to 1986 cult classic, Troll.
The new film will be a 3D feature-length animation and has already signed up Oscar-winner Patricia Arquette to voice one of its characters, a magical witch.
Quite how producers are going to be able to use that name without some kind of legal move from JK Rowling remains to be seen. However, they have released a statement insisting their Harry bears no resemblance to Rowling’s and in fact Harry Potter and Harry Potter Jr were both characters in the first film which was “independently created and distributed 11 years before J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter book was written and published”.
