John Hurt and Kenneth Branagh will play father and son in a new production of The Entertainer later this summer.

The pair will co-star in the play which is part of the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company’s first season at The Garrick. Rob Ashford directs.

They will be joined on stage by Greta Scacchi, Sophie McShera from Downton Abbey, and Jonah Hauer-King.

Hurt will play Billy Rice alongside Branagh as his son Archie. Billy was once a star of the Music Halls and now has to watch his less talented an squander his legacy.

The play opens at the Garrick on August 20.
