Magic Mike actor Joe Manganiello is producing a film inspired by seminal ’80s band, The Smiths.

The film, called Shoplifters of the World, is inspired by a Smiths legend about a fan who held the staff of a Denver radio station hostage demanding they only play Smiths songs.

Manganiello will star as the radio station DJ – no other casting has been announced.

Somewhat surprisingly, Morrissey has agreed to allow filmmakers to use the band’s catalogue for a “nice, affordable fee”
