Finally, after months of speculation, it looks like Disney has chosen the young actor who will play Han Solo in the stand-alone film about the character’s early life.
And the actor is, Alden Ehrenreich – best known to audiences for his role in the Coen Brothers’ Hail! Caesar which was released earlier this year.
The stand alone Han Solo film, expected to be called Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, is being directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the team behind the Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street and more, so I hope it will be chock-full of Han’s irreverence and one-liners.
Ehrenreich is also the lead in Warren Beatty’s Howard Hughes project which is expected to get an awards season run later this year so audiences will have an opportunity it’s to get to know him before he boards the Millennium Falcon.
At 26, Ehrenreich is certainly young enough to play Han a few times before he catches up to Ford’s age at the release of A New Hope.
