Ben Whishaw is in talks to appear in the sequel to Mary Poppins.

Whishaw is in talks to play the adult Michael Banks, who is a key character in the story.

Michael experiences a loss which leads to the return of his big sister Jane. That results in the arrival of Mary Poppins who teams up with her lamplighter friend Jack to help the family.

As we already know, Emily Blunt will be playing the iconic role with Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack.

Rob Marshall is directing the film which is due to shoot in London in early 2017. Mary Poppins Returns is due in cinemas in December 2018.
