Alfie Allen, aka Theon Greyjoy in Game of Thrones, is to present a new football documentary for History UK.

Alfie Allen’s Story of Football will be a two-part series will explore the stories, moments and characters that have defined the beautiful game over the past 100 years (so it had better feature Steven Gerrard, Alfie).

Allen will travel around the UK in search of football’s roots and discover how the game evolved.

Allen is a big football fan, having attended Arsenal’s youth camp and played in a number of charity matches.

And fans of a certain age (me included) will remember his dad Keith not only featured in the video to World in Motion (probably the greatest football song of all time) but was also the mastermind behind terrace favourite Vindaloo, which is now stuck in my head.

The series should air in 2017.
