A new film celebrating the careers of four acclaimed British actresses will be screened in UK cinemas on May 2nd.
Nothing Like A Dame is a celebration of the lives and careers of Dame Eileen Atkins, Dame Judi Dench, Dame Joan Plowright and Dame Maggie Smith.
Sixty years ago, seismic changes ripped through the cultural establishment, and together with music and fashion, British theatre underwent an explosion of creativity and talent. Right at the heart of the action were four young actresses.
Over a weekend, these four old friends and icons of film, TV and stage share over seven decades’ worth of insights and revelations, looking back at their days as bright young things and pondering their status as the Dames they’ve become today.
The film, directed by Roger Michell, will be broadcast on the BBC. But it will have its premiere in cinemas on May 2nd.
