Disney Plus has announced plans for a new Star Wars Holiday Special which will debut on the streaming service later this year.
The show will be a sequel to the infamous 1978 special that aired once on CBS and then was never aired on TV again, nor released on home video. It has often been described as “the worst thing on television ever.”
The new special will bring back characters from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
There is a twist though, Disney has partnered with Lego on the show.
The story will follow Rey as she leaves her friends to prepare for Life Day and sets off on a new adventure with BB-8 to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force.
At a mysterious Jedi Temple, she is hurled into a cross-timeline adventure through beloved moments in Star Wars cinematic history, coming into contact with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan and other iconic heroes and villains from all nine Skywalker saga films. But will she make it back in time for the Life Day feast and learn the true meaning of holiday spirit?
The official voice cast hasn’t been revealed, but it’s thought some of the film actors will be back to voice their characters.
The Star Wars Holiday Special will debut on Disney Plus on 17th November.
