Simone Ashley has been cast as Kate, the potential love interest for Anthony, in season two of Bridgerton.

In a change to Julia Quinn’s novel, Kate’s family will be of Indian descent, with their name changed from Sheffield to Shah.

British actress Ashley is probably best known for her role as Olivia Hanan in Sex Education.

The next series will chronicle Jonathan Bailey’s Anthony as he searches for a wife – hinted at during the final moments of season one.

Filming on the latest season is due to begin soon.
