The Great British Bake Off is being turned into a stage musical with the show set to premiere this summer.

The production has been created in association with Bake Off’s executive producer Richard McKerrow and will premiere in Cheltenham on 22nd July.

Speaking about the musical, McKerrow said: “We really hope that this musical version embraces the soulful warmth and humorous spirit of the television show. And that it proves to be a real treat for all the family and anybody who comes. We often say, “Love the Bakers, Love the Baking!” Now it’s time to Love the Singers, and Love the Songs!”

The production has an original score and follows the exploits of eight Bake Off contestants.

Apparently it’s been in development for a couple of years but is now ready for its world premiere.
