Apple TV Plus has revealed the first image of its forthcoming series based on Sarah Perry’s bestselling novel, The Essex Serpent.

The show follows London widow Cora Seaborne ( Claire Danes) who moves to Essex to investigate reports of a mythical serpent.

There, she forms an unlikely bond with the village vicar (Tom Hiddleston), but when tragedy strikes, locals accuse her of attracting the creature. 

The cast also includes Frank Dillane, Clémence Poésy and Hayley Squires.

The show’s first two episodes will premiere on Apple TV Plus on Friday, May 13th.
