The all-star cast of Disney Plus’ new adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s bonkbuster Rivals has been revealed.
The story is set in the fictional upper-class county of Rutshire, and follows the cutthroat world of independent television in 1986 when a long-standing rivalry between two powerful men is about to boil over.
Alex Hassell will star as ex-Olympian, Member of Parliament and notorious womaniser Rupert Campbell-Black, while his neighbour and rival Tony Baddingham will be played by David Tennant.
Aidan Turner has joined the cast as Declan O’Hara, a TV host with a fiery temper, while former EastEnder Danny Dyer has been cast as Freddie Jones, a self-made electriconics millionaire.
The cast also includes Nafessa Williams, Bella Maclean, Katherine Parkinson, Victoria Smurfit, Claire Rushbrook, Oliver Chris, Lisa McGrillis, Emily Atack, Rufus Jones, Luke Pasqualino and Catriona Chandler.
The show has been filming at Bristol’s Bottle Yard Studios for a few weeks.
