Frasier has left the Paramount+ building

The future of the Frasier revival looks to be in doubt after streamer Paramount+ opted not to renew it for a third season.

The series producer, CBS Studios, has said it will look to sell the show to another outlet.

According to Deadline, possible new homes for the show include Prime Video or Hulu in the US.

The rebooted series follows the former radio shrink as he returns to Boston to face new challenges, forge new relationships, and possibly fulfil an old dream or two.

Kelsey Grammer resumed the lead role, alongside Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier’s son, Freddy; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Alan, Frasier’s old college buddy turned university professor; Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, Alan’s colleague and head of the university’s psychology department; Jess Salgueiro as Eve, Frasier and Freddy’s neighbour; and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew, David.

I have to say, I watched some of the first season and it really didn’t capture the magic of the original show. In season, the producers brought back Peri Gilpin as Roz and Bebe Neuwirth as Lilith in the hope of recapturing some of that spark.

It’s rare for shows that are dropped by one streamer to get picked up by another, but we’ll have to see what happens.
