Films to watch out for – August to September

As the summer draws to a close and autumn fast approaches it’s time to say farewell to the big blockbusters and begin to prepare ourselves for the inevitable slide into awards season.

August to October is always a strange time in cinema as distributors move away from the big tent-pole movies into the more dramatic, kudos-likely fare. But, as always, there are plenty of films that are worth getting excited about.

It’s Blockbuster season

It’s that time of year again – the weather’s getting warmer, the night’s are getting longer, so it’s the perfect time to go and sit in a dark room and spend two hours watching a movie. And it’s the perfect time of year in term of film releases because Avengers: Age of Ultron has heralded the start of Blockbuster Season 2015. Unlike spring, summer, winter etc this season tends to have something for everyone from Iron Man and co saving to the world to Channing Tatum taking it all off in Magic Mike XXL to Pixar’s latest, Inside Out. Here’s some films to watch out for over the coming months.

Is Jared Leto the new Joker?

He’s being courted to play the role in Warner Bros’ Suicide Squad.

Tom Hardy, Will Smith and Margot Robbie are thought to be in talks for other roles in the film but it seems the Oscar-winning Leto is director David Ayer’s choice to play the iconic role.

Suicide Squad involves the government granting a group of supervillains a chance of redemption by sending them on a mission that will probably kill them.
