This is exciting: Lupita Nyongo’s new film Queen of Katwe will screen at this year’s BFI London Film Festival.

I’ve been tracking this film since it was first announced so I’m delighted to see it confirmed for LFF.

Nyong’o stars alongside David Oyelowo in the film which follows a young girl from Uganda who trains to become a world chess champion.

The film is directed by Mira Nair who will walk the red carpet alongside Nyong’o and Oyelowo at the film’s official screening on Sunday October 9.

The full line-up for this year’s LFF will be announced on September 1 – I can’t wait!
