BBC One drama series Call the Midwife has been commissioned for another three series.

The broadcaster has ordered three, 8 x 60-minute series of the period drama, along with three Christmas specials.

That will keep the show on-air until 2020, bringing its nuns and midwives into the mid-1960s.
